The annual EA FC Team of the Year promotion highlights the top football performers from the past year, offering fans the chance to shape the final squads.
This year’s nominees list includes 154 players: 80 men and 74 women, split across attackers, midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers. Voting began on 6 January, with the final teams expected to drop in mid-January.
Among the men’s nominees, Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) headline the attackers, alongside Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid) and Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid).
The midfield category includes Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Martin Ødegaard (Arsenal), and Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), while Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) and Ruben Dias (Manchester City) feature in defence.

The women’s TOTY shortlist is equally star-studded, with Alexia Putellas (Barcelona) and Aitana Bonmatí (Barcelona) leading the midfielders. Lucy Bronze (Chelsea) and Wendie Renard (Lyon) bolster the defensive lineup, while attackers like Lauren Hemp (Manchester City) and Sophia Smith (Portland Thorns) add firepower.
According to EA’s announcement, the release will be staggered, starting with warm-up cards on 14 January, followed by positional drops: attackers on 17 January, midfielders on 20 January, and defenders on 22 January. The full squads will be available in packs by 24 January, with the 12th Man and Woman added on 27 January.
“The fan vote is critical,” EA Sports mentioned in their release. “It ensures the players who truly shone this year are recognised.”
Fans can vote now at EA’s official website, making this year’s TOTY one of the most engaging yet.
