Erik Lamela’s stunning rabona goal against Arsenal in the north London derby has been named Premier League Goal of the Season for the 2020-21 campaign.
Lamela left supporters with mouths agape after pulling off the audacious effort and finding the bottom corner.
The Argentine showcased his creativity by taking on the shot first time, after the ball was played across the area by full-back Sergio Reguilon and laid off by Lucas Moura.

Back on 14th March, Erik Lamela gave Tottenham the lead after 33 minutes with a brilliant rabona through the legs of Thomas and into the back of the net. The goal was so good that even teammate Sergio Reguilon could not believe it.
Martin Odegaard’s leveller just before the break and then Alexandre Lacazette’s 64th minute penalty meant Spurs lost the game 2-1, but it was an absolutely sensational goal. Erik Lamela was actually sent off 14 minutes from the end.
Lamela beat the following nominees to this season’s prize: James Maddison (vs Man City, September 27), Manuel Lanzini (vs Spurs October 18), Ola Aina (vs West Brom November 2), Sebastien Haller (vs Crystal Palace December 16), Mohamed Salah (vs West Ham January 31), Bruno Fernandes (vs Everton February 6), Jesse Lingard (vs Wolves April 5), Edinson Cavani (vs Fulham May 18).
A Tottenham player won the prize for the second year in a row after Son-Heung Min’s length of the field goal against Burnley won it in 2019/20. This is the first time an Argentine has ever won the award.
