After winning Euro 2016 on Football Manager 2016 with England, I was looking for a new FM16 challenge. Then I saw Hash Piperdy’s suggestion and decided to go with it:
So I slightly changed the lowest-rated team in the tournament, Albania, to accommodate our injured players.
The Squad
Injured 11, Injured XXIII, call them whatever you like…
So this is the full 23-man squad:
Goalkeepers: Jack Butland, Mattia Perin and Rob Elliot.
Defenders: Mathieu Debuchy, Dani Carvajal, Luke Shaw, Fabio Coentrao, Kurt Zouma, Raphael Varane, Aymeric Laporte and Vincent Kompany.
Midfielders: Claudio Marchisio, Lassana Diarra, Alan Dzagoev, Ilkay Gundogan, Fabian Delph, Marco Verratti, Danny, Marco Reus, Karim Bellarabi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Strikers: Danny Welbeck and Diego Costa.
Santi Cazorla is the only Injurian player that missed the tournament due to… (you guess it) injury.
Matches
Injured XI have only failed to win the first match of the tournament, against Wales:
Then we had to face The Netherlands, who qualified for The European Championship on FM16:
Russia was up next, but Leonid Slutsky’s boys were no match for All-Star Injured 11:
After winning Group D we were drawn against Republic of Ireland:
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal stayed calm during the whole 90 minutes. Probably too calm for his taste:
France thought they could stop us in the semis, but in this alternative reality, we were the better team:
The Final
Surprisingly, Austria reached the final, but the Injurians managed to annihilate the underdogs:
The players wanted to thank Hash Pipperdy for allowing them to live the dream!
