• Mind nationality, spoken languages, adaptability (from scouting report), personality etc. when deciding who is the best candidate to be signed. Try to figure out if the player you are after could blend in and consider bringing a fellow countryman to make things easier.
• Do not sign players just to get involved in the mercato: invest in worthwhile hot prospects, proven performers or improve your squad depth (making sure everyone will get a fair amount of playing time.
• Also, pay attention to wage auctions. You can sometimes sign incredibly good players on Bosman deals. Just check out players whose contracts are due to end in 6 months time (use filters) in December/Jan and July/August.
