Football Manager 2025, initially expected to release in early November, has been delayed by several weeks due to development challenges.
Studio director Miles Jacobson revealed that moving to the Unity engine has caused more issues than anticipated.
As a result, major features, such as international football management and player weight stats, have been removed.

One of the most significant cuts was international football, which will only be playable on FM25 Mobile.
Despite its absence, international teams will still exist in the game’s simulation, though fans won’t be able to manage them.
Jacobson explained that the decision was based on usage data from FM24, where only 5.6% of saves involved international teams.
The addition of women’s football also led to changes in player weight visibility, with Jacobson stating that weight fluctuations differ between male and female players, prompting the removal of this stat across the game.
However, this decision divided the fanbase, with some praising its inclusivity while others questioned the logic behind hiding a stat that still affects gameplay.

– Game delayed until late November – this makes me want to kill myself
– No…

The delay and removal of these features have caused concern among long-time Football Manager players.
One fan remarked, “I think a lot of people will stick to FM24 with updated databases”, expressing doubt over the need for such drastic changes.
Another fan added, “I might pass on ‘25 but will happily get ‘26 if they have everything together. Fans are now eagerly awaiting whether these extra development weeks will ensure a smooth launch.
