Liverpool’s new manager has Salah doing half the work for double the goals

With Arne Slot at the helm, Mohamed Salah is taking fewer shots but finding the net more often, thanks to a clever tactical shift

Under new management, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is experiencing a shift in his role.

In the opening two Premier League matches of the season, Salah has been notably less involved in the build-up play compared to the previous season under Jurgen Klopp.

Despite this reduced involvement, his efficiency has increased dramatically.

In Liverpool’s first game against Ipswich, Salah took just four shots but managed to score, a stark contrast to the seven shots he took in Klopp’s final game against Wolves, where he failed to find the net.

Similarly, in the 2-0 victory over Brentford, Salah registered just three shots but was once again on the scoresheet. These numbers indicate a clear shift in strategy.

Arne Slot, who replaced Klopp, appears to be focusing on quality over quantity when it comes to Salah’s involvement.

The forward’s touches in the box have decreased, but his goal conversion rate has improved.

Salah himself acknowledged the difference, saying, “We play different football now with the manager wanting to control the ball all the time.”

Slot’s approach is not just about efficiency but also about control.

By slowing down the game and reducing Salah’s touches, Liverpool is ensuring that their star player is in the right place at the right time, rather than expending energy on less effective plays.

This method has seen Salah score in both of Liverpool’s wins so far, with fewer touches and shots than last season.

Federico Chiesa lands at Liverpool in a surprise deal

In a surprising move, Liverpool have added further firepower to their attack by signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus for a reported £12.5 million.

The Italian international, who was once one of Europe’s most promising talents, joins the Reds on a four-year deal.

Despite struggling with injuries in recent years, Chiesa brings a wealth of experience and potential to a Liverpool frontline already brimming with talent.

“I said yes immediately because I know the history of this club,” Chiesa stated, highlighting his eagerness to start this new chapter.
