Man City legend De Bruyne announces departure after 10 years

The football community reacts as Kevin De Bruyne declares his intention to depart Man City after 10 years, ending an era of midfield mastery

Since his arrival from Wolfsburg in 2015 for a then-club record fee of £55 million, De Bruyne has been instrumental in Manchester City’s success.

Over 413 appearances, he has netted 106 goals and provided 174 assists, cementing his status as one of the Premier League’s finest playmakers.

His trophy cabinet boasts six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and a Champions League triumph.

Individually, De Bruyne has twice been named Premier League Player of the Season and has featured five times in both the PFA Team of the Year and the FIFA FIFPRO World 11.

In a heartfelt statement, De Bruyne expressed his gratitude:

“This city. This club. These people… gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back! And guess what – we won EVERYTHING.”

As for his next move, reports suggest Major League Soccer’s San Diego FC is leading the race for his signature, despite previous interest from Saudi clubs.

However, no official confirmation has been made regarding his future destination.

De Bruyne’s departure marks the end of an era for Manchester City, leaving fans to reminisce about a player who has been central to the club’s most successful period.
