Manchester City has made a monumental move, securing Erling Haaland’s services for the next decade.
The 24-year-old forward, who joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has already transformed English football with his unparalleled scoring record and impact on the pitch.
In his debut season, Haaland shattered records with 52 goals in all competitions, including 36 in the Premier League, surpassing the previous league record of 34.
His goal-scoring feats powered City to a historic Treble, clinching the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.
“Manchester City is a special Club,” Haaland said, expressing his pride in extending his stay. “I want to keep developing and helping us achieve more success.”

Haaland’s extraordinary talent didn’t stop at his debut season.
In 2023/24, despite missing nearly two months with a foot injury, he delivered 38 goals in 45 games, earning a second consecutive Premier League Golden Boot.
By the season’s end, City had secured an unprecedented fourth straight league title, with Haaland again at the forefront.
As of the 2024/25 campaign, Haaland has already scored 21 goals in 28 appearances, maintaining his incredible consistency.
These performances have seen him rise to 15th on the club’s all-time scoring list, an extraordinary feat for a player in just his third season at City.
“Erling’s numbers and records speak for themselves,” said City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain. “This new deal reflects both his commitment to the club and our belief in his talent.”
Haaland has also broken ground internationally, becoming the youngest player to reach 40 career goals in the UEFA Champions League.
In domestic competitions, he set a new benchmark by scoring 50 Premier League goals faster than anyone before him.
His accolades include the PFA Player of the Year award, Premier League Player of the Season, and the prestigious 2023 Gerd Müller Trophy.
The forward’s bond with Manchester City goes beyond football.
His father, Alfie Haaland, played for the club in the early 2000s, creating a legacy that Erling has amplified with his record-breaking performances.
“This is home for me,” Haaland remarked, reflecting on his connection to City’s culture and its fans.

Haaland’s versatility as a striker is unmatched.
From headers to volleys and acrobatic finishes, his goals come in every form imaginable. In one remarkable stretch during 2022, he scored three consecutive home hat-tricks, a first in Premier League history. These achievements have cemented his status as one of the finest forwards of his generation.
The stats back up the hype:
- In the 2022/23 season, Haaland played 53 games, amassing 52 goals and 9 assists in 4,131 minutes.
- In 2023/24, despite the injury setback, he scored 38 goals in 3,745 minutes across 45 games.
- His current season, 2024/25, sees him continuing that trend with 21 goals and 2,476 minutes played.
Begiristain is confident that Haaland will continue to evolve under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage. “Working with Pep, Erling will only get better,” he said. “If he keeps working hard, he will create an incredible legacy at this club.”
