Paul Pogba could return to competitive football in March after his 18-month suspension for DHEA use was reduced from four years on appeal.
The midfielder, currently a free agent after parting ways with Juventus, has been training in Miami to maintain his fitness levels.
Mason Greenwood, Pogba’s former Manchester United teammate, joined Marseille last summer.
The French side is now being linked with Pogba, a move Emmanuel Petit believes could reignite the World Cup winner’s career.
Petit commented, “Marseille is a special club. The passion of their fans is unmatched, and the atmosphere in the city is electric.”

Marseille’s sporting director Medhi Benatia, a former player himself, has overseen significant improvements in the transfer market, with Petit praising his work. “Benatia has brought exciting players to the team,” Petit remarked.
Since joining, Greenwood has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 19 appearances, showcasing his value.
However, Pogba faces challenges. He has not played since September 2023 and has been out of team training for 18 months.
“It’s a big difference working in the gym compared to the pitch,” said Petit. He also emphasised the risks involved: “For a manager, signing him would be a gamble, but the potential rewards are immense.”
Despite setbacks, Pogba has expressed a desire to return to the French national team. A successful stint at Marseille could help him achieve this goal. Petit noted, “If he gets everything in place mentally, his footballing quality is undeniable.”
For Pogba, Marseille represents both a challenge and an opportunity. With the club’s passionate supporters and a strong infrastructure under Benatia, the stage could be set for a remarkable comeback.
