Manchester United’s new head coach, Ruben Amorim, has candidly acknowledged the precarious state of the team following a 3-1 defeat to Brighton.
This loss marked their tenth Premier League defeat of the season, leaving them in 13th place—a position not seen since the 1989–90 campaign.
Amorim stated, “We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”

The team’s struggles are further highlighted by six home league defeats, the most since the 1893–94 season.
Under Amorim’s leadership, United has secured only three wins in 11 league matches.
Despite these challenges, Amorim remains steadfast in his coaching philosophy, emphasizing the need to “survive this moment” and expressing his commitment to his current tactics.
During the winter transfer window, Amorim loaned out Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa without securing a replacement.
This decision left United with 5 attackers, only one of whom, Bruno Fernandes, is considered top-class.
Amorim acknowledged the risk, citing financial constraints and a desire for a different player profile as influencing factors. He noted that Rashford is not expected to return soon, as Villa holds an option to buy.

The club has also initiated “Mission 21,” an ambitious plan led by Sir Dave Brailsford, aiming to secure their 21st English league title.
This strategy focuses on transforming the club’s performance culture and includes upgrading training facilities and supporting the women’s team’s ambitions.
Brailsford, known for his roles with Ineos and British Cycling, is collaborating with technical director Jason Wilcox following the departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth.
