The hidden earnings of England’s football stars at the Euros

Discover how much England’s football players earn at the Euros, including performance bonuses and sponsorship deals

Football fans often wonder about the hefty sums their favourite players earn, especially during major tournaments like the Euros. The numbers might surprise you.

Despite many England players earning tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds weekly at club level, their national team pay is surprisingly modest.

Reports suggest that each England player receives around £2,000 per game. However, this sum has been selflessly donated to the England Football Foundation for the past 17 years.

The Foundation redistributes the money to its chosen charities, raising over £5 million since 2007. Therefore, while players have earned up to £14,000 for reaching the tournament’s final this summer, they don’t take any of the money home.

According to reports, the squad will receive a £24 million bonus should they triumph on Sunday. These bonuses are designed to motivate players to perform at their best on the international stage.

England stand on the verge of history as they prepare for the Euro 2024 final, a match that could secure their first-ever European Championship.

The Three Lions, led by Gareth Southgate, were close to glory at Euro 2020 but lost to Italy in a penalty shootout.

Now, 58 years after their legendary World Cup win against West Germany in 1966, they aim to raise another significant international trophy if they defeat Spain this Sunday.

Despite a challenging journey, including a critical last-minute bicycle kick by Jude Bellingham and a decisive goal by Ollie Watkins in the semi-final, the team is poised for success.

As England prepares for the final, the pride of potentially winning their first major trophy in over half a century is their primary motivator.
