EA Sports FC 24 claims Christmas no.1 in UK boxed charts

EA Sports FC 24, the latest football gaming sensation, has secured its spot as the Christmas No.1 in the 2023 UK retail charts

Demonstrating its enduring popularity, the game witnessed a 29% surge in sales, according to GfK data, despite experiencing a slight dip the previous week.

Hogwarts Legacy, with a 17% increase in sales, reclaimed the second position, edging out Super Mario Bros Wonder to third place. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 maintained its hold at number four. Spider-Man 2 made an impressive leap from seventh to fifth, rounding out the top five.

In a notable shift, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which debuted at number five last week, plummeted to twelfth after a significant 53% drop in sales.

The Top 10 also welcomed Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, jumping from fourteenth to eighth, propelled by a 62% sales boost, likely spurred by PlayStation 5 promotions.

This week’s chart saw remarkable re-entries, including NBA 2K24 at number thirty, thanks to a staggering 478% sales increase, primarily due to discounts on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 versions. Gran Turismo 7 and Super Mario Party, along with Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition, also made notable comebacks.

God of War Ragnarök returned to the charts at number forty, benefiting from recent price reductions and the launch of its Valhalla DLC.
