“Sadio Mané has honoured all of Senegal, the Sedhiou region and the entire Casamance area. I have decided to name the Sedhiou stadium after him.
In doing so I wish to convey the gratitude of all the sons and daughters of the region towards him.
He has made all of mankind aware of Bambali and Sedhiou, the region’s main town. This is a gift that Sadio Mane truly deserves,” said Abdoulaye Diop, the mayor of the Senegalese province of Sedhiou.
Located in southwestern Senegal, Sedhiou is home to less than 25,000 people and has been made famous by Mane’s performances with Liverpool.
The stadium’s construction is set to be completed by 2023, and the native’s hope is that Mane will have the ability to attend the opening ceremony.
